For teachers

Run a class

13 missions run today, and up to 16 weeks of them are already sequenced. Prepare once, then choose whether to run it in Open Practice or Managed School.

Step 2 of 3

Choose mode

These are two different modes, not two halves of one ladder. They share the same missions and the same spacecraft model, but they do not share what happens to a learner's work.

Open Practice

Run missions without an institution. Account-free where the route supports it, and the learner's work stays in their own browser.

  • Learners open the mission and work in pairs. Nobody signs in on the routes that support it.
  • Their work stays in their own browser where a local record is implemented.
  • Nothing is uploaded, and nothing enters a School record automatically.
  • You read the evidence on screen, or have learners print or export it.

Managed School

A class runs one exact released Grade Programme. Assigned work and submitted evidence persist, a teacher assesses them, and released feedback reaches the learner.

  • An admin approves one exact released Grade Programme for the class.
  • Learners join through institution and class enrolment.
  • You open the class's mission work from your School teacher page.
  • Work a learner submits becomes a persistent institutional submission.
  • You assess that work and decide when the feedback is released to them.

What each way costs you to set up

Open Practice
No accounts, no installation, no data leaving the room. A full mission session works this way.
Managed School
An institution, a class and an enrolment route per class. Learners still choose when to submit; submitted work then persists and you assess it.
Never required
Hardware, a paid licence, or an LMS integration. None of the missions depend on any of them, in either mode.
