Stage 1 of 7

Mission

Who you are, what you are finding out, and what success looks like.

Showing stage 1 of 7: Mission

A spacecraft design is a set of promises that all have to be kept at once: enough power, enough storage, mass within limit, balance within tolerance. Your team will put two designs through the same mission and check every budget, not just the ones that pass.

Two designs, one mission. Which one actually closes every budget it has to?

Your role
Spacecraft configuration engineer
Objective
Evaluate two declared configurations against every modeled mission budget and choose which can proceed.
Success looks like
Compile both configurations, inspect every check, select evidence, and avoid presenting declared-input budgets as CAD or measured truth.

Learning outcomes · University

What you should be able to do, and the evidence that shows it.

  • 01By the end of this mission, the learner will be able to design a traceable comparison of two spacecraft configurations against one mission scenario, and demonstrate this by stating which variables were held constant.
  • 02By the end of this mission, the learner will be able to assess what this configuration study establishes about a design and what it withholds, and demonstrate this by distinguishing declared inputs from computed budgets.
  • 03By the end of this mission, the learner will be able to validate the limits of treating this configuration result as design evidence, and demonstrate this by stating the qualification evidence that would still be required.
