Take the picture. Get it home.

Stage 1 of 7

Mission

Who you are, what you are finding out, and what success looks like.

Showing stage 1 of 7: Mission

A camera that sees more detail makes bigger pictures, and a spacecraft can only send home so much before the pass ends. Your team will fly the same observation with two cameras and work out which one actually delivers more to the ground.

A sharper camera takes better pictures. Does it get more of them home?

Your role
Payload mission planner
Objective
Choose a camera profile by balancing modeled image detail against storage and downlink delivery.
Success looks like
Run both camera profiles, distinguish captured from delivered data, select evidence, and make a constrained recommendation.

Learning outcomes · Grades 11–12

What you should be able to do, and the evidence that shows it.

  • 01By the end of this mission, the learner will be able to analyse how detail, image count and downlink capacity constrain one another, and demonstrate this by tracing that relationship through the evidence.
  • 02By the end of this mission, the learner will be able to evaluate which camera better serves a stated mission objective, and demonstrate this by justifying the choice against that objective.
  • 03By the end of this mission, the learner will be able to formulate a bounded payload recommendation and state its verification limit, and demonstrate this by naming the physical test that would be required to confirm it.
