Prove the Model Against Evidence
Grades 9–10 · Grades 11–12 · University · Engineering · Physics · Mathematics
Measurable learning outcomes
- 1By the end of this mission, the learner will be able to quantify how far the battery figure moves between the short and the long run, and demonstrate this by reporting both values with units.
- 2By the end of this mission, the learner will be able to model why a short observation can support a conclusion the model itself does not, and demonstrate this by relating run length to the evidence available.
- 3By the end of this mission, the learner will be able to test whether a conclusion drawn from the short run survives the long run, and demonstrate this by stating the conclusion before testing it.
Concepts and evidence
Concepts: prediction vs observation
- model/hardware correlation report + discrepancy analysis + V&V conclusion
- engineering decision
- evidence provenance statement
- model limitation
Teacher preparation
- Timing
- 20–30 minutes for curriculum discussion; specialist workbench timing is facilitator-defined
- Vocabulary
- prediction vs observation
- Differentiation
- Require explicit criteria, quantitative evidence and a traceable limitation statement.
- Assessment
- Review the prediction, evidence selection, engineering decision and limitation. This is formative CubeSTEM programme evidence, not an external accredited grade.
Extend with KidSAT
Create a simulation-versus-measured correlation report after physical commissioning evidence is available.
Supervised operator and physical kit required. Measured correlation remains commissioning pending until Phase 14 evidence passes.
Availability and next step
A reusable learner lesson is not yet authorized for this record. Use this page for curriculum planning or open the specialist workbench with a qualified facilitator.
Engineering limitations
- Software comparison is not HIL correlation.
- Never label simulated evidence as measured.
- Do not claim: simulated is measured.
- Do not claim: twinlink default.
- Do not claim: public remote hardware.
